If you are a lawfully present immigrant, with very low income, and have not yet met the Medicaid residency requirements, you may qualify to enroll in coverage through Virginia's Insurance Marketplace and enroll under a low-income qualifying life event known as the 150% FPL SEP. To do so, follow these steps below:
- Go to Virginia's Insurance Marketplace, click Get Covered, and submit a new Virginia's Insurance Marketplace application.
- Answer all questions and provide your income amount to the best of your ability.
- If you qualify, a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) will automatically open.
- Once the SEP opens, you will have 60-days to enroll in a plan through Virginia's Insurance Marketplace. Once you enroll, coverage will begin the start of the following month
