Verify Your Immigration Status / Verifique su estado migratorio

Do you need to verify your immigration status? You can send Virginia's Insurance Marketplace any of the documents listed below to verify your immigration status.

Immigrant Non-Citizen or Non-Immigrant Visa Holder

Any of the following documents (copies of all pages, when applicable) are acceptable:

•  
  • I-551 Resident Alien Card (green card)
  • Temporary I-551 Resident Alien Card (temporary green card)
  • I-766 Employment Authorization Card
  • Proof of current visa status (for example: a stamp in your passport or an approval letter from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services — USCIS)
  • Proof of resolution in immigration court (all pages)
  • Notice of hearing from the Executive Office for Immigration Review
  • Documents (all pages) you provided to or received from USCIS or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), such as:
    • Confirmation that your application for an immigration status was received
    • Letters to or from USCIS
    • I-797 USCIS Notice of Action
    • Order of Supervision from ICE
    • Other documents to or from USCIS or ICE that show your current status
  • I-94 arrival/departure record
  • An approved immediate relative I-130 petition
  • Refugee Travel Document (I-571)
  • Re-entry Permit (I-327)
  • SEVIS ID (I-20 or DS-2019) — all pages
  • Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) or Office on Trafficking in Persons (OTIP):
    • Certification or eligibility letter (all pages)
    • Certification from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)
  • Immigration or other official document showing grant of:
    • Withholding of Removal
    • Asylum
    • Cancellation of Removal
    • Administrative Closure
    • Administrative Order Staying Removal
    • Order of Supervision
  • Proof that you lived continuously in the U.S. before 1972 (for example, a lease agreement or proof of employment)
  • Temporary I-551 stamp (on passport or I-94/I-94A)
  • Document indicating membership in a federally recognized Indian tribe or an American Indian born in Canada
    • Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) eligibility letter (if under 18)
    • USCIS Acknowledgement of Receipt (I-797C)
    • Foreign passport
    • Arrival/Departure Record in foreign passport (I-94)
    • Cuban/Haitian entrant
    • Administrative order staying removal, issued by the Department of Homeland Security
    • Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients (I-821D)
    • Application for Employment Authorization (I-765) or I-765WS
    • If you don’t see your document or status type listed, describe or enter the name of another type of immigration document issued by:
      • U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
      • Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)
      • Customs and Border Protection (CBP)

If you select “Other,” you’ll be asked to enter:

•  
  • Description: Provide the name or describe the type of document you have
  • Alien number: Also called the alien registration number or USCIS number
  • I-94 number: Arrival/Departure Record number, if applicable

Battered Immigrant Non-Citizen

If you are applying as a battered immigrant non-citizen, please submit the appropriate supporting documents showing your eligibility.

Important legal update (effective January 1, 2027):
Per H.R. 1 Sec 713010, as of January 1, 2027, refugees, individuals who have been granted parole for at least one year, those granted asylum or related relief, certain abused spouses and children, and certain victims of trafficking will not be eligible for financial assistance on the Marketplace.

Un Inmigrante No Ciudadano Maltratado

Si solicita como Inmigrante No Ciudadano Maltratado, presente los documentos de respaldo apropiados que demuestren su elegibilidad.

Actualización legal importante (efectiva el 1 de enero de 2027):
Según H.R. 1 Sección 713010, a partir del 1 de enero de 2027, los refugiados, las personas a quienes se les haya concedido libertad condicional por al menos un año, aquellos a quienes se les haya concedido asilo u otra protección relacionada, ciertos cónyuges e hijos víctimas de abuso y ciertas víctimas de trata no serán elegibles para asistencia financiera en el Mercado.
