Your monthly subsidies may change (increase or decrease) or be removed altogether from your policy due to newly reported information on your Virginia's Insurance Marketplace application. Changes in your Virginia Premium Savings may happen as a result of your reported changes in income and family size. Similarly, changes in your APTC amount may happen as a result of reported changes to your:
- Income,
- Family size,
- Tax filing status
For example, if:
- Your household income increases, you may be eligible for less monthly APTC, and your monthly premium may increase.
- Your annual income decreases, you may be eligible for more APTC, and your premium may decrease.
- Virginia's Insurance Marketplace finds that you are eligible for affordable Minimum Essential Coverage outside of Virginia's Insurance Marketplace, such as employer sponsored insurance (ESI) you will be determined ineligible for financial assistance, and your APTC will be removed.
- You are or become eligible for Medicaid, you are not eligible for financial assistance on Virginia's Insurance Marketplace.
- If your immigration status no longer qualifies for APTC under new federal rules, your APTC will be removed. Beginning January 1, 2027, APTC is limited to lawful permanent residents (green card holders), Cuban/Haitian entrants, an COFA migrants.
Failure to submit requested verification documentation (resolve data matching issues) such as, proof of citizenship, immigration status, income, etc. could result in removal of APTC once deadline for submission has passed.
