Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) login steps:
Step 1 – User enters credentials on the Log In page.
Step 2 – User authenticates using direct authentication or single sign-on (SSO).
Step 3 – The platform checks to see if MFA is enabled for the user’s role.
- If MFA is not enabled, go to Step 11.
- If MFA is enabled go to Step 4.
Step 4 – The platform checks to see if it is the first time the user has used MFA.
- If it is a first-time authentication, go to Step 5.
- If it is not a first-time, go to Step 6.
Step 5 – The user completes the process to set up devices and preferences for Duo authentication.
Step 6 – The user chooses an authentication method.
Step 7 – The platform sends a Duo authentication code to the user.
Step 8 – The user enters the authentication code.
Step 9 – The platform checks to see if the authentication code is correct.
- If the authentication code is correct, go to Step 10.
- If the authentication code is incorrect, go to Step 6.
Step 10 – The platform authenticates the login.
Step 11 – The platform displays the user’s Dashboard.
