If your child is enrolled in the Family Access to Medical Insurance Security Plan (FAMIS) at full cost, you may add them to your Virginia's Insurance Marketplace coverage during the Open Enrollment Period (beginning Nov.1) or if you experience another qualifying life event.
A child enrolled in no cost or low-cost FAMIS is not eligible for financial assistance through Virginia's Insurance Marketplace because FAMIS qualifies as minimum essential coverage under federal law.
