What are Data Matching Issues/Inconsistencies?
When a customer applies for health coverage through Virginia's Insurance Marketplace, the Marketplace is required by federal law to verify the information provided in the application.
Most of this information is verified automatically. However, in some cases, the information provided by the applicant does not match the data stored in the Marketplace’s verified data sources. These situations are known as Data Matching Issues or Data Matching Inconsistencies (DMI).
Examples of Data Matching Issues or inconsistencies include differences in:
- Projected Annual Household Income
- Citizenship or Immigration Status
How do you know if you have a Data Matching Issue?
Virginia's Insurance Marketplace will inform you of any data matching issues in your Eligibility Notice, which will be sent to your secure inbox, after submitting your application. This notice will explain what information needs to be verified.
To verify eligibility, Virginia's Insurance Marketplace will send DMI notice to your secure inbox and will request information. Consumers will have 90 days to submit documentation to resolve the inconsistency.
You can also view any data matching issues by logging in to your Virginia's Insurance Marketplace online account.
