About Virginia's Insurance Marketplace Funding
Virginia's Insurance Marketplace is an independent state agency that receives funding from a user fee applied to health plans and paid by the customer's respective insurance company. This fee has been factored into insurance rates since the Affordable Care Act (ACA) passed in 2010.
