In 2020, the Virginia Health Benefit Exchange (VAHBE) was established by the Virginia General Assembly as a new division of the State Corporation Commission. The Exchange created a state-based marketplace where Virginia residents can apply for, shop for, and enroll in health coverage that best fits their needs.
While similar in many ways to the Federal Marketplace, Virginia's Insurance Marketplace brings health coverage closer to home. It is dedicated to improving access to affordable health coverage for Virginians.
Virginia's Insurance Marketplace is also focused on providing a superior customer experience across the Commonwealth. Through the Marketplace, Virginian's can access tools and resources to help them understand how to apply, shop, and enroll in coverage. The Marketplace is custom-built by Virginia, for Virginians, to meet the state unique health coverage need.
